WORKING HOURS AND DAYS

The College will work from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a lunch break of one hour from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., Monday to Friday.

RULES OF ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE OF ABSENCE

Each student should be in his/her place in the class punctually at the stated period for lectures, practicals, tutorials, etc.

Attendance will be taken during every period of work and absence during any one period in a session will be treated as absence for that session. A student entering a class after commencement can do so only after obtaining the permission of the teacher engaging the class. The student will be marked late; three late marks will be counted as half-a-day's absence.

Guidelines for Applying for Leave

  1. The HOD can grant leave up to three days. Leave for longer periods will be granted by the Principal on the recommendations of the HOD. All leave letters so granted shall be filed by the department concerned.
  2. Leave letters will be considered for recommending applications for condonation of shortage of attendance within permissible limits at the time of sending candidates for University examinations.
  3. Late applications will not be considered. Leave applications must always be submitted in advance. For unforeseen absences, submit an application as soon as possible and not later than the first day of return.
  4. For sickness extending over more than three days, the Principal may require a medical certificate.
  5. If a student absents himself/herself for a week without leave, his/her name will be struck off the roll unless omission to obtain leave was unavoidable.
  6. The total number of days of absence (with or without leave granted) will be displayed monthly on the department notice board. Students should ensure they do not lose attendance beyond permissible days. No individual warning will be issued.

Certificate of Attendance

Certificates required by the University for admission to University Examinations will be granted by the Principal only if:

  • The conduct and progress of the student have been satisfactory;
  • The student has put in the prescribed minimum of 75% attendance;
  • In case of science students, 90% of prescribed practical work has been done.

If a student has between 60% and 75% attendance, they may be allowed to attend University Examination by paying condonation fees as prescribed by the University. Students with less than 60% attendance have no legal right to appear and must repeat the semester to earn required attendance.

RULES OF DISCIPLINE & CONDUCT

The Principal has full power to maintain discipline and may frame disciplinary rules. He may impose punishments including fines, loss of attendance, withholding of term certificates, suspension, expulsion and rustication.

The Principal will communicate with parents/guardians when students are academically backward, have irregular attendance, or unsatisfactory conduct. Incorrigible students may have names removed from rolls after informing parents/guardians; the Principal's order is final.

Students participating in strikes or dislocating college work will forfeit scholarships and concessions in addition to disciplinary action. Petitions or complaints to higher authorities must be submitted through the Principal.

  • Students must attend college decently dressed.
  • On teacher entering the classroom, students shall rise and remain standing until asked to sit.
  • Students must obey teachers, respect non-teaching staff, and behave decorously with peers.
  • No student shall leave the classroom or laboratory without the teacher's permission.
  • Strict silence to be maintained in classes and corridors when classes are in progress.
  • Students without classes must remain quiet and use library/reading-room.
  • Science students must bring observation notebooks and submit records on appointed dates; failure may result in loss of day's practical work.
  • Students must care for college property and are responsible for materials entrusted to them. Damage may require replacement or payment; willful damage may attract further punishment.

ACADEMIC PROGRESS

Students are expected to maintain steady progress. Indifference to studies or poor attendance may lead to termination. Names may be struck off rolls for unauthorized absence. Students with less than 75% attendance will not be permitted to write semester examinations.

Students must follow university schedules, rules and regulations regarding examination applications and payment of fees.
